Privacy Policy

What we collect, why, who sees it, how long we keep it, and how to have it deleted. Last updated .

1. Who we are

This policy explains how Jobra ("we", "us") handles personal data on the Jobra website. For the purposes of India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (the “DPDP Act”), we are the Data Fiduciary for the data described here.

You can reach us through the contact page.

2. What we collect

We collect as little as we can. Browsing jobs needs no account and no personal data.

If you create an account

  • Your name and email address.
  • Your password, stored only as an Argon2 hash. We can’t read it.
  • When you agreed to these terms, which version you agreed to, and your confirmation that you are 18 or older.
  • When you last signed in.

What you do while signed in

  • Applying. When you press Apply on a job, we record which job, when, the kind of device (mobile, tablet or desktop) and the name of the site that sent you to Jobra, if any. We don’t record the full address you came from or your browser’s identifying details.
  • Your jobs. The jobs you applied to and the jobs you saved, with the date of each, kept with your account so they appear in your dashboard.
  • Interview practice. Practice tests you take (the questions, your answers and your score) and your saved progress: bookmarks, completed questions and roadmap.
  • Career kits. Which kits you have access to.
  • Reports. If you report a listing, we keep the reason and any detail you type. A report doesn’t record who sent it, so don’t include personal details in it.

Only if you allow analytics cookies

A random, anonymous ID in a cookie, used to count each job view once. With each view we record the job, the time, the kind of device and the name of the referring site. See the Cookie Policy.

Stored only on your device

Interview practice progress is saved in your browser’s local storage so you can use it without an account. It stays on your device; if you sign in, it is copied to your account so it follows you.

Technical data

Like any website, our servers receive your IP address with each request. We use it briefly to stop abuse, such as too many sign-in attempts, and we don’t store it with your account. Actions taken by Jobra staff in our admin area are logged with the staff member’s IP address.

What we don’t collect

We don’t ask for your CV, phone number, address, date of birth, government ID or precise location. The contact form doesn’t send anything to us: it opens your own email app with your message filled in, and we receive only the email you choose to send.

3. Why we use it

  • To run your account and the features you use: signing in, applying, practice tests, saved progress and kits. You give this data by creating an account and using these features.
  • To keep Jobra secure and stop misuse, such as password guessing.
  • To understand which listings are useful (view and apply counts), with your consent for analytics cookies where they are needed.
  • To show ads, only with your consent to advertising cookies.
  • To meet legal obligations, for example keeping sales records for tax purposes.

We don’t sell your personal data, and we don’t use it to make automated decisions about you.

4. Who we share it with

We share personal data only with service providers who help us run Jobra, under their own privacy terms:

  • MongoDB Atlas stores our database.
  • Cloudinary stores and delivers company logos, kit covers and kit files. Your browser fetches these images from Cloudinary’s servers.
  • Our hosting provider runs the website and the API.
  • Google AdSense, only if you allow advertising cookies. Google sets its own cookies and may use them to personalise ads; see how Google uses data from sites that show its ads.

Employers. When you press Apply you leave Jobra for the employer’s own site. We don’t send employers your name, email or anything else; what you give them is between you and them, under their privacy policy.

We may disclose data if the law requires it, for example in response to a valid order from a court or a government authority.

Some of these providers may store data on servers outside India. Where that happens, it is done as the DPDP Act allows.

5. How long we keep it

  • Your account: until you delete it.
  • Practice tests: deleted automatically 180 days after you start them, or when you delete your account.
  • Job views and apply clicks: deleted automatically after 365 days. If you delete your account first, your apply clicks stay only as anonymous counts that no longer lead to you.
  • Reports: kept while we deal with them. They aren’t linked to anyone.
  • Purchases: records of paid kit purchases are kept for as long as tax law requires, even after an account is deleted, without your name or email.

6. Your rights and choices

  • See and correct your data. Your dashboard shows your account details; you can change your name there. To correct anything else, write to us.
  • Delete your account. Use “Delete my account” in your dashboard. It deletes your account and the data described above at once, and signs you out. If you can’t sign in, or want something deleted that isn’t tied to an account, write to us.
  • Withdraw consent. Change your cookie choices at any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page. Withdrawing consent doesn’t affect what happened before.
  • Nominate someone. Under the DPDP Act you can nominate a person to exercise these rights if you die or become unable to. Write to us to do so.
  • Complain. Tell our Grievance Officer first (below). If you’re not satisfied, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

We’ll respond to requests within 30 days. We may ask you to confirm who you are first.

7. Children

Jobra accounts are for people aged 18 or older, and everyone who signs up confirms that they are. We don’t knowingly collect personal data from anyone younger. If you believe a child has created an account, tell us and we’ll delete it.

8. Security

Passwords are hashed with Argon2. Sign-in uses cookies that page scripts can’t read, and changing your password signs out your other sessions. Only staff who need it can reach the admin area, and their actions are logged. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your data, we’ll tell you and the Data Protection Board of India as the law requires.

9. Emails

Jobra doesn’t send you marketing emails, and at the moment sends no email at all. If that changes, we’ll ask before sending any marketing email, and every one will have a link to unsubscribe in one click.

10. Changes to this policy

When this policy changes, we update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use the data you have already given us, we’ll ask you to agree to it before it applies to you.

11. Contact and grievances

Write to us through the contact page and choose “Privacy or data request”; it reaches the person responsible for grievances.

Cookies on Jobra

We use cookies that are needed to sign you in and keep the site working. With your permission we’d also use an analytics cookie to count job views, and Google advertising cookies to show ads. The site works the same whatever you choose. Read the Cookie Policy.
